Pages, Blocks & the Basics

🧱
Everything in Notion is a block. Text, headings, images, to-dos, and even databases are all blocks you can move, nest, and restyle.

Creating your first page

Click + New page in the sidebar, give it a title and an icon, and start typing. Press Enter for a new block.

Working with blocks

Type / to open the block menu — try /heading, /callout, /toggle, /to-do, or /divider. Drag the handle to reorder blocks, or drag side by side to create columns.

Common block types

  • Text & headings for structure
  • Bulleted, numbered & toggle lists
  • Callouts & quotes to highlight information
  • To-dos for checklists
  • Dividers & columns for layout
